It's Now or Never

Zinnia from my garden.
I have been procrastinating about starting my 60's MOD dress for a few weeks now. The time is at hand that I can procrastinate no longer. It is now or never. It is that darn chiffon, I am scared to death of it. I had plans of making the chiffon overlay flowy and seperate from the under dress, but that would be changing the pattern up quite a bit, as the pattern calls for a lining. I am going to use the MOD fabric as the lining and the chiffon as the "regular" fabric...but because the chiffon is see through, it will have a different effect. That is what the pattern asks for.

I was going to NOT attach the side seams, so the chiffon had a life of its own, but now that I am about to start sewing, I think I would have had to make the chiffon a bit larger, and I did not.

Come hell or high water, I WILL have "something" to show you tomorrow. Wish me lots of luck.

This coat was part of the "prom dress" stash and it is the one piece that fits me and I adore. I love 60's Mod winter coats. They had such style. The coat was moldy smelling and the lining has seen better days. The belt buckle has also seen better days and it is missing one button.

But I love the details and it is warm as heck. I am going to look around on Ebay and see if I can find a new belt buckle and similar buttons. Lots and lots of buttons. I am also planning on replacing the lining. This is my refurbish project to have ready for winter. It is at the dry cleaners at the moment and I will see what it looks like when I get it back. Hopefully it will have the start of a new life.
Do you like it?
