This past Friday hubby bought me this for my birthday.
It was built in 1946 and owned by one family and lived in by one of them for the past 55 or more years. Walking into the house is like walking into the past and we LOVE it. We were also able to purchase most of the furnishing and household items as well. Some just too precious and dear to mention. There is a lot of work to be done before we actually make this our home so I won't be moving all too soon, and I will most likely become very busy in the next months and blogging may take a second seat. But on the other hand there will be plenty to blog about as we make the transformation.
The owner lived a very simple life and it is evident in all the house is. We hope to keep much of this simplicity
and really turn the corner to an even simpler life than we live now.
For my sewing friends, as part of the furnishings in the home, there is a treadle sewing machine named REVIEW. It has all the attachments and with some work and new knowledge maybe I can get it up and running.
what a fantastic gift...you are a bit spoiled I think! enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! And happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog via RSS for a while, but wasn't "officially" following: I just changed that! Happy birthday, and your new home looks lovely! I've heard that treadling is a lot of fun, so I hope you can get that old treadle machine up and running.
