The past few nights we have been dealing with a very itchy dog...the constant scratching and biting is bad enough, but seeing her in this much discomfort is what truly agonizes me. I took her to the vet yesterday because I thought her "butt sacks" needed emptying...they did...but the itching started up again just as we were headed to bed. I have checked for fleas on all the animals and nary a flea or flea residue can I find. I have another appointment later today to see if we can figure out what it is.
It was also my birthday on Monday, so I took it upon myself to do nothing. Hubby and I went out on a date Sunday night (we never see each other with our work schedules) and it was wonderful to catch up and laugh a little with each other. My sister made dinner for me on Monday...it is amazing how a burger and a simple salad can taste so good when someone else makes it for you. Dessert....Hershey's chocolate bars. My sister is an amazing entertainer and cook and usually puts out quite a show. But it was last minute and just her love made it taste like a gourmet dinner to me. Thanks Patti!
On a sewing note. I started taking my measurements and getting my dress form (shall I call her Hazel?) to be more of my proportions. Thick waist, big hips, small bust. I am petite, but very pear shaped. This gals got booty!!! I bought a petite dress form but could not get the bust measurement large enough. I looked across the internet and found out that many people have to pad their dress forms to get a more exact sizing. This is what I have done so far!
In this photo you see how much extra room there is on the sides.
I can't extend it any further without the neck coming apart.
Bra with only left 'chicken cutlet' in.
Getting closer to my shape...albeit not perfect.
I'm not sure if you can see the difference, but the photo below is before enhancement.

I mentioned last week that I purchased a 'lot' of patterns. All 34' bust.
Quite a few patterns for lounging around the house. Perfect for me!
Although summer is winding down, I am still up for quickly putting together a few of these in nice soft cotton.
Can't wait to see the finished dress! I love those vintage patterns, btw...
ReplyDeleteHi L,
ReplyDeleteGosh what a great idea ! I am going to get those chicken cutlets for my dress form. Have wondered what I could do to help my ever changing dimensions :/ You look marvelous in the dress . Beautiful fabric. One truly pretty lady.
Much Love,
Elise
A few months ago I spent an instructive and entertaining few hours with a sewing group, learning how to pad my new my dress form. (She's called Delia and I love her to bits). One thing that really worked for me was to use an old bra with straps rather than a boob tube. We left the straps adjusted for me, put it round Delia then stuffed it with rolled up old socks . That way Delia got my bust circumference and also my exact bust point. It's made fitting tops SO much easier. Have fun with Hazel!
