Could this be the inspiration for
Don Draper aka Dick Whitman?
And look at the caption:
DOBBS:Double Life

It is almost as if the producers of the show saw this ad
and said, "We need to find this exact man". And they did.
Could they possibly have found anyone better than Jon Hamm to become the wonderfully,
elusive and mysterious Don Draper? The man you want to love and love to hate?

What are your thoughts?
And I am a huge fan but have not seen any of this years shows, so don't give anything away.
Nice catch! This season has been the best so far...although Don kind of sinks lower and lower until he's really not so suave anymore :( But that makes the boyfriend happy.
ReplyDeleteI get them via Netflix - so I also have not seen this season. Given Lisette's post, I figured he is going to fall - it was inevitable. I think the ad is definitely the inspiration, don't know if it really is, but I would bet on it. Even my husband looked at it and said, wow, it's him.
ReplyDeleteOooo that's an awesome find on that ad! Who knows...could've been an inspiration for Matt Weiner. While I'm not a fan of the character Don Draper, I must say I'm loving Jon Hamm more and more each time I see him out of character, because he's so unlike DD. He's incredibly funny and I'm looking forward to the movie he filmed in the Boston area, I think with Ben Affleck.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!!!!!! THAT'S DON DRAPER!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, that's awesome!!I'm huge fan of Mad Men, the show hasn't been on mexican tv yet, but I bought first season and finished to watch it in almost 10 days! Now I really want to buy the next seasons. I'm in love with this man hehehe =)
ReplyDeleteWOW really does look like Don Draper was modeled after this add. I just started watching season 1 on Net flicks and love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! If the producers of the show haven't seen this ad yet, I'm sure they'd do a double take too.
