Here, there and all over the place.

Here in the northeastern U.S. snowstorms are the norm for this time of year and no matter how many I live through I always get a sort of thrill the day before. I suppose it is the idea of a "snow day" from school. How I loved those snow days. In my youth the CBS affiliate out of Hartford, CT would run something called "Snow Bound Theater" from 10:00-12:00 during big storms and snow days. It would usually be a Shirley Temple movie or something similar. There would be lots of skating, sledding and playing with my Barbies during those snow-bound days and I have nothing but fond memories which is probably why I still love a snow storm today.

So today I am readying myself for a snow storm although I hear other areas are going to get a hell of a lot more than we are. I guess time will tell. Hubby is beyond NOT THRILLED with the thought of snow.

My children loved snow days too. If you look up at my header you will see a snow angel.
It was made by my son when he was small. Here he is making it.

And here is a water color I painted from this picture.

Further news on my children.
My son will graduate along with his German Shepard "Chase" from the K-9 Police academy this week.
Miss Moll Doll has fallen in love with the sport of Roller Derby.
I could not resist posting these vintage shots of women who paved the path.

And have you forgotten I have a wedding coming up? I am searching for the perfect dress. As the mother-of-the-groom I have to wait for other dresses to be bought (bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride) before I choose a color for mine. This is a vintage dress I saw on e-bay. I love the style and feel it would look good on me. I want something that I am comfortable in and will be easy to dance in. Chiffon is top on my list. Do any of you know of a sewing pattern similar to this?

  2. Just after posting this I went to your site and saw "the dress". I totally cracked up! Actually it verged on weirdness...didn't it?

First I want to see YOU make it...I'm not quite sure if I REALLY want to sew a dress for my son's wedding. I don't want to embarrass him. I look forward to seeing your finished product.

  4. Check out Simplicity 4556. I have a vintage dress like that and I have another pattern in addition to the Simplicity which is that style but not that I can lay my hands on easily. 4556 is sitting on my desk with the fabric picked out and ready to roll.
