I'm A Little Bit Country-He's A Little Bit Rock and Roll

For those that don't know this already, I live in the northeastern part of the United States. In New England to be exact. Massachusetts to be even more exact. This is NOT country music, country. Without being too politically incorrect, let me just say, that for the most part it is shunned. Too many WASPS and I don't mean the flying kind.

But this summer I just can't get enough of good old country music. I love the lyrics, the melodies and just about everything about it. Hubby does not share my enthusiasm.. He's definitely a little bit rock and roll.

This is an actual photo of hubby and Mick Jagger. Hubby was working in a restaurant in the small town we grew up in and Mick was staying out our one small Inn with his then wife Jerrie Hall. They had gone to see Sting the night before. Hubby asked for the photo op and got it. This is in the 1980's and let me tell you that in REAL life hubby has straight hair...true to the decade, he is sporting a perm. Yowwwy.

The other morning I was watching the TODAY show and they had a segment on how many of Roy Rogers things were being auctioned off at Christies of New York, including the real taxidermy of Trigger which sold for $266,000. I am feeling a new obsession coming on. Sassy Lassie goes western.

Of course I know who Roy Rogers and Dale Evans are, but they were not household names in my family, although I think I would have liked them to be.

 What a life they lived!!!!!

I have been watching this little number on ebay for a few days and may just have to indulge myself.

Happy Trails,

  1. Did I know about this Mick Jagger meeting?! How cool is that?! And, Hubby with a perm?! I know, I know, the 80's were the big hair decade--ask Brian how big mine used to be.

As for the country thing--well, I'm not a huge fan either. I do like old country like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline etc., however, the clothing is cute in moderation and I do like that little number you're eyeing on eBay. So, should the 70's party at Brian's become a 70's/western party? Hmmmm--don't think the pairing of K.C. and The Sunshine Band with Waylon Jennings would work too well!

  2. No,no we don't need to mix country with the 70's although western shirts for men were BIG in the 70's. It is definitely a look a man COULD wear to the party, as long as his mustache was big enough.

  3. Do it! Square-dance dresses are one of my favorite things to wear. Sadly, I only have one in my size. And man, check out that sweater!
Country - not really my thing, you can blame my parents, but I can handle bluegrass.

  4. Don't you just LOVE that sweater and how it matches the wall?
