Singer Vacuum Anyone?

Dear readers and friends,
I'm sure many of you would love to see me get back to sewing, however nary a thread has passed through my fingers in months. I still need to finish Miss Moll Doll's vest which I started in October...it is almost there and will be revealed in a few weeks. Yup, a few weeks....I have been distracted with both the move and the holidays, but feel the beauty of quiet winter hours close at hand.

Yesterday with stormy blizzard conditions outside my window I had a chance to look through more of the recipe file my friend Brian gave me. When I finally was near the end I encountered the Cake, Dessert section and hit the jackpot again. Oodles of recipes for baked goods. Which just goes to show how most ladies LOVE sweets. Truth be told though, I am a salt freak.

I found many interesting ads on the backs of some of the recipes that were taken from magazines. I thought my sewing friends would enjoy this. I never knew Singer made vacuums.
Have any of you ever run across one? This page was in a magazine dated 1959.

I further researched Singer and found this link with the complete history of

Which of these machines do you own? Please do share.
I have only one Singer, a Touch and Sew which I love.
I used to have one of these which I let rust in my cellar and then threw away a few years back.
It is a Touchtronic 2001

. It really was a pretty special machine back in 1979.

  1. Obviously vacuums were not a winning proposition for poor Singer. What happened to that proud company makes me very sad.

  2. I have sewn on the same Singer 401A for 50 years. I'll likely never have another machine.
