Who could not love this illustration? I found this for 25 cents at a yard sale this summer and fell in love with the cover. Won't it look fantastic framed and hung with a real pair of ice skates?
At the same sale there was a box filled with someones recipes. I started looking through it and the women running the yard sale said I could have it all for $1.00.

I recognize the woman's name (she has it written on many things. More on that another day) and I have a friend at work who may be able to fill me in more about her. I just did a search for her on the internet and it appears she is 84 years old. Seeing that she is still alive (heck maybe she wants these back) I will keep her name to myself.
I love how many of the recipes are splattered with batter and vanilla. I cherish these so much. I wonder if someone will find my recipes at a yard sale one day and feel the same way about them?

I'm thinking you should try making that Lemon Wow cake. Sounds yummy and also similar to the Lemon Chiffon recipe I shared with you. On one of the hand written recipes, I felt as if I was looking at something my grandmother Betty wrote. The hand writing is so similar to hers--that and the wallpaper in your kitchen---uh oh--maybe she's hanging out at your new house!

ReplyDeleteI was going through my grandmothers recipes and found lots for rubarb. All sorts of different recipes, all featuring rhubarb. Which she hated.
ReplyDeleteBut it grew wild in her yard and think she hated wasting anything. So maybe if she looked hard enough she'd find some way she could learn to like rhubarb.
Don't know if it ever worked. :-)
