See What I Mean?

Just after posting yesterday and writing, I am almost in the hope  home stretch and think it will look like a shirt by the end of the hour. This happened.

I forgot to turn the shirt to the wrong side and sewed the "whole side seam" inside out and wrong!!!! Have you ever done this? Why am I so distracted? Is it the plaid?

Well after more thread picking and sewing, I almost have the shirt done. I ordered black suede elbow patches today so the reveal, I know you are all waiting with bated breath, will be soon, sort of.

  1. You're slipping, Lassie...first two left arms--now this! Lucy, wha happen?!

  2. You know, Sassy, you could have turned that into a French seam by trimming the seam allowance down to 1/8", turning inside out (or rather, outside in), and restitching at approx. 1/4." That would enclose the seam completely.

Can't wait to see the finished shirt -- modeled by you-know-who!

  3. Peter, a french seam would be perfect IF it was not the right side of the shirt. In other words, I sewed the seam on the 'right..as in wearable' side of the shirt.

Yes...I'm sure you can't wait to see it modeled by You-know-who...

  4. and Stephanie...it is all Frank's fault and you can tell him I said that. :) Next time he wears a snazzy shirt to a Christmas party, warn him it might cause havoc in another person's (my) life.

  5. Oh no!! Well it's not like you don't have anything on your mind to distract you. I do this on muslins ALL THE TIME because I can't tell the difference between the right and wrong side, then find myself with the shoulder seam right side out and the side seams inside out.
